INE prepares second progress report on SDG implementation with introduction of new indicators

Praia, Jan 10 (Inforpress) – The National Institute of Statistics (INE) wants the next report on the evolution of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implementation in Cabo Verde in preparation to have as many indicators as possible.

It is for this purpose that today, in Cidade Velha, it brings together its technicians and official from others statistics bodies for training in the definition of statistical indicators following the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development (PEDS) and the SDGs.

The objective, as explained the coordinator of the INE planning department, Nereira Moreira, is to address “very important” issues related to statistical indicators and work to overcome some constraints recorded in the preparation of reports already produced.

“For example, in drafting the 2017-18 report we encounter a number of constraints on data production including lack of human resources in the institutions producing statistics, insufficient disaggregation of data that is not done as requested on the 2030 agenda and we are trying overcome these constraints and strengthen statistical coordination,” she said.
