Praia, Aug 12 (Inforpress) – The General Inspectorate of Economic Activities (IGAE) seized and destroyed 15 kilograms of seasoned and decaying chicken during a joint surveillance with the City Hall on Friday at São Miguel.
According to IGAE, the decaying seasoned chicken smelled foul and would be used to prepare bifanas. The same source states that the 15 kilograms of meat would be consumed on average by 150 people.
“The product was immediately confiscated and then destroyed to prevent food poisoning (vomiting and diarrhea),” reads the institution’s note.
In the same document, the Inspectorate-General for Economic Activities recalled that at the meeting held on August 5 with all the female sellers, they had warned them about “the importance of proper conservation” of meat, mayonnaise, shellfish, fish and other foods, to avoid the trade of “abnormal products that endanger the health of consumers.”
