Praia, Mar 26 (Inforpress) – The Association for the Defense of Environment and Development (ADAD) addressed a message of solidarity to the people of Mozambique, calling for “urgent intervention” from the international community.
In a press release, the president of ADAD, Januário Nascimento, regrets that at a time when the Forum on Water Scarcity in Agriculture, in the City of Praia, on World Water Day, there is a flood phenomenon affecting Mozambique and its neighboring countries with a global impact.
All this, the note says, is the result of climate change and man’s action on earth that can be mitigated.
“In view of the situation affecting a PALOP and CPLP friendly country, ADAD takes the opportunity to express its deep solidarity as a civil society, to appeal to the national and international community and diaspora to help our Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe”, he said.
ADAD also congratulated the Presidency of the Republic of Cabo Verde, the Presidency of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and the Government for the “prompt response” in the mobilization of material and human financial resources and expressed the willingness to collaborate with several institutions to minimize the pain of the “Mozambican brothers”.
