Praia, Jul 10 (Inforpress) – ICIEG, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, received more than 70 million escudos from the partners to implement projects to promote gender equality from 2017 to 2019.
According to a source at the Cabo Verdean Institute for Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG) in statement to Inforpress, the institution to carry out the various projects for gender equality in the country, has carried out a “true economic diplomacy” to invest in areas such as gender-based violence, economic empowerment of girls and women, and political participation.
“To carry out all this work, we have Spain as the largest funder and have made available more than 30 million escudos. Incidentally, the student guide and teacher handbook on gender equality to be introduced in secondary school this year is the result of this funding,” the same source said.
The promotion of decent work through the promotion of care system, it emphasized, was another intervention made with the financing of Spanish cooperation, which also invested in the drafting and advocacy in favor of the Parity Law in Cabo Verde.
