ICCA registers “slight increase” in reports of child abuse and rape cases

Praia, Mar 20 (Inforpress) – ICCA has reported a “slight increase” in reports of sexual abuse and rape cases against minors with the implementation of the “Enough sexual violence against minors” campaign, starting in October 2018.

This information was released to the press by the technical director of the Cabo Verdean Institute for Children and Adolescents (ICCA), Assunção Oliveira, on the fringes of the closing ceremony of the 1st phase of the “Enough violence against children” campaign.

The event was carried out under the project “Strengthening capacities to better prevent and combat sexual abuse and exploitation against children and adolescents in Cabo Verde 2017-2018”, held in the Eugénio Lima neighborhood, in the City of Praia.

According to the official, ICCA has been raising awareness among families to empower children on how to protect themselves and to guide parents to better deal with child protection issues in relation to sexual violence.
