Praia, Feb 20 (Inforpress) – The Government has decided to grant a survivor’s pension to the minor children of the late musician Carlos Manuel Tavares Lopes, known as “Romeu di Lurdis”, in the monthly amount of 75,000 escudos, in accordance with a resolution published in the Official Gazette this Thursday.
The decision, formalized under Law No. 34/V/97, of 30 June, which establishes the “Treasury Pension”, comes as recognition of the trajectory and contribution of the late artist to national culture.
According to the diploma, this pension, intended for citizens who have distinguished themselves in service to the community, in the arts, in culture or in the affirmation of Cabo Verdean identity, is usually granted to individuals over 55 years of age or incapacitated for work who face a fragile socio-economic situation.
However, the executive activated the legal mechanisms to ensure the protection of the musician’s direct descendants, securing the total amount of 75,000 escudos for the two minor children.
