Fuel price increase expected to drive up fish prices – Praia shipowners

Praia, September 3 (Inforpress) – The recent increase in fuel prices is expected to make operations at sea more expensive and consequently be reflected in the price of fish for consumers, warned today the president of the Praia Fishing Shipowners Association.

According to Samora Barros, although the consequences of the increase are "not yet being felt" by shipowners, as it only occurred two or three days ago, the impact "should be felt shortly" in the sector's activities.

"If going to sea becomes more expensive, logically the fish will be more expensive," he stated, admitting that one of the first consequences will be an increase in the price of fish for the consumer.

Samora Barros made these remarks to Inforpress, regarding the latest increase in fuel prices in Cabo Verde.
