Praia, Mar 4 (Inforpress) – Cbo Verde’s women’s football team today play against Mali’s counterpart in the city of Makeny, Sierra Leone, in one of the semi-final games of the West African Union of Federations (UFOA).
In the other semi-final the national teams of Senegal and Liberia play in the city of Bó in search of another access to the final. Cabo Verde qualified for the semi-final by beating Guinea Conakry 3-0 in the third and final round of Group A of the UFOA Cup.
A hat-trick by goalkeeper Ireland Lopes, voted best on the field, guaranteed the qualification of the Creole team in this competition.
With this triumph Cabo Verde scored four points in three games, ending the group with a draw against the hosts from Sierra Leone (0-0), defeat by Senegal (0-2) and with this defeat by Guinea Conakry by 3- 0. Ireland Lopes became the third player to make a hat-trick in this group stage, as well as Aguissa Diarra, from Mali, and Gambian Adama Tamba.
