Ribeira Grande, 2 July (Inforpress) – The coach of Mindelense said today that he intends to make the most of his first national championship final to lead the Reds to the title, expressing his ambition to bring the trophy back to São Vicente against Paleira.
On arrival in Santo Antão, where on Saturday the 4th the Reds face the reigning national champions, Américo Medina – known as Miki – made it clear that the team are going into the match aware of the challenges ahead, but confident that they have what it takes to fight for the title.
‘Mindelense are an extremely competitive team. We’ve come here to take on the Cabo Verde champions, Palmeira. We’ve come here to try to achieve our goal, whilst, of course, respecting our opponents,’ he said.
According to Miky Medina, respect for the reigning champions does not dampen their desire to win, and he emphasises that the team believes it is possible to bring the national title back to Mindelense.
