São Filipe, Jul 1 (Inforpress) – The standardization of the procedure, action and posture to be developed in the promotion and sustainable management of the territory is the purpose of the Handbook of Best Practices in ecotourism.

The Handbook, which was drawn up under the project called “Fire, Water, Earth, Air” (FATA) and funded by the European Union, was presented at the end of June during the last project activity that ended its activities in the island , after three and a half years.

“The objective of this Handbook of Best Practices in ecotourism in Fogo Island is to guide operators and service providers to a standardization of the procedure, action and posture to be developed,” reads in the explanatory note that provides information and rules of conduct for all who visit the tourist destination Fogo, from arrival to departure of the island and based on a “responsible and sustainable” tourism.

The Handbook attempts to combine planning, tourism promotion and short-term economic  ambitions with “sustainable social and environmental commitments” in one document.
