Fogo: Electrification Project of Chã das Caldeiras with renewable energy among seven selected for Grant USAID Award

São Filipe, Sep 12 (Inforpress) – The Chã das Caldeiras electrification program with renewable energy is on the list of seven projects chosen to be awarded the USAID Grant (United States Agency of International Development), one of the promoters Jorge Andrade Nogueira told Inforpress.

The project, prepared through the Green Mini Grid Help Desk platform, was one of the projects awarded by the ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), as part of the third edition of the ECOWAS Renewable Energy Fund (EREF 3), implemented by the African Development Bank, Energy 4 Impact (UK) and Sustainable Fund for Africa and technical support from Inensus (Germany) in partnership with Enerwhere.

The electrification project of Chã das Caldeiras, the only one in the municipality of Santa Catarina, which does not have electricity, comes within the SE4All objectives (Sustainable Energy for All) Africa Hub, implemented in the GMG Market Development Program (GMG MDP) to facilitate the creation of a GMG movement and enable a sustainable environment across Africa, the promoter told Inforpress.

The GMG / MDP, according to him, is part of the GMG Africa Program that is being funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) to achieve universal access to modern energy by 2030, as set out in the SE4All objectives.
