São Filipe, Jan 9 (Inforpress) – Civil society in the island of Fogo prepares two silent marches for Saturday, 11, in Mosteiros and São Filipe, in honor of the student Luís Giovani, who died on December 31 in Bragança, Portugal.
In Mosteiros, where the young student was born, the silent march is scheduled for 10:00AM on Saturday, the 11th, starting in the town of Mosteiros Trás, where Giovani’s mother was born, until Fajãzinha, the village of his father and where Giovani was born and resided until October 2019, when he traveled to Bragança for training in Digital Game Design, and where he died, allegedly a victim of aggression.
In Mosteiros, at the end of the march, which will also pass through the city of Igreja and the villages of Queimada Guincho and Murro, a mass will be celebrated in honor of Giovani in the chapel of Our Lady of Fatima in Fajãzinha, located a few meters from the residence of his parents.
In the city of São Filipe, the silent march in honor of this student is scheduled for 7:00PM on the same day, with concentration at Largo de Cruz dos Passos, then following to Alto de Aguadinha, Avenida Amílcar Cabral, branch of Banco Comercial do Atlantico, Parish Church, National Police Station and ending at Largo de Cruz dos Passos.
The organization asks all participants, if possible, to appear dressed in white and with a candle to “pay due tribute” to the student. The president of the Fogo Regional Football Association, Pedro Pires, for his part, assured that the proposal presented by the Club Desportivo Juventude was accepted and in the first and second division games of the next weekend a minute of silence will be observed in honor of Luís Giovani dos Santos Rodrigues.
