Fogo: Águabrava may take over municipal solid waste management – Alberto Nunes

São Filipe, Nov 15 (Inforpress) – The Intermunicipal Water Company (Águabrava) may take over the management of urban solid waste at the three municipalities of Fogo Island, with the construction of a common landfill.

This possibility was admitted by the mayor of Santa Catarina do Fogo, Alberto Nunes, after a visit made by the three mayors of the island, accompanied by the administrator / delegate of Águabrava, to a water company and another one in the ​​sanitation and treatment solid waste area in Portugal as part of decentralized cooperation.

Alberto Nunes indicated that the visit and the work meetings were “important and allowed” exchange of experiences.

“We have the common project of building the landfill for the island and the visit was to see the experience of the Portuguese company,” said Alberto Nunes, adding that in the coming months the three City Halls will be engaged in the construction of the landfill, since the space is located and there is a 90.000 USD financing from the United Nations System, about 10 million escudos.
