FCF elections: List A contests process, denounces irregularities and calls for suspension of inauguration

Praia, Feb 04 (Inforpress) – The defeated candidate in the elections of the Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF), Eliseu Cardoso, today denounced alleged irregularities in the electoral process, called for the suspension of the inauguration of the elected team and demanded an urgent decision on the appeal.

The statements were made at a press conference organised by members of List A, aimed at “restoring truths that Cape Verdeans at home and in the diaspora need to know”, at a time when “information is already circulating regarding the scheduling of the inauguration of List B”, despite an appeal pending before the Electoral Appeals Commission.

In the elections held on January 10, contested between Mário Semedo, who sought re-election, and Eliseu Cardoso, former president of the National Refereeing Commission, List B was declared the winner with seven votes against five for List A.

According to Eliseu Cardoso, the irregularities began during the pre-electoral phase, with the late disclosure of the list of voting delegates, only in the early hours of voting day, preventing its analysis and possible challenge by the candidacies.
