Praia, May 3 (Inforpress) – The university professor and researcher Eurídice Monteiro launched this Thursday in the City of Praia, the book “O Elogio da Democracia” (The Praise of Democracy), a set of 40 chronicles published in the weekly “Expresso das Ilhas”, between 2017 and 2018.
The book was edited by the Polish academic Dominika Swolkien and contains comments by Mrs Filomena Martins and the foreword by the first lady, Lígia Fonseca.
In statements to the press, Eurídice Monteiro revealed that the idea of the title appeared from the book “O Ódio à Democracia”, by the French philosopher Jacques Ranciere, clarifying, however, that she believes in democracy and the values it proclaims.
In addition to scientific articles in specialized journals, Eurídice Monteiro is the author of the books “Women, Democracy and Post-Colonial ChallengesMulheres, Democracia e Desafios Pós-Colonial: Uma Análise da Participação Politica das Mulheres em Cabo Verde” and “Entre os Senhores das Ilhas e as descontentes: Identidade, Classe e Género na Estruturação do Campo Político em Cabo Verde”.
