Praia, 12 June (Inforpress) – Work on the Hoky Beach Lounge development, currently under construction on São Francisco beach, has now come to a standstill, as Inforpress observed on site, following complaints and objections from environmental organisations and activists regarding the location of the development.

According to the executive director of the Lantuna Association, Ana Veiga, the work took place during the morning of Thursday the 11th, but was interrupted in the afternoon.

The development is being built less than 30 meters from the waterline, in an area considered environmentally sensitive.

Ana Veiga said that this is an area that is flooded by the sea at certain times of the year and that it could also be affected by flooding during the rainy season.
