Crime in Cabo Verde decreases 17.4% in 2019 – National Police (with audio)

Praia, Mar 13 (Inforpress) – Crime in Cabo Verde decreased by 17.4% in 2019, with a record of less than 3.165 criminal occurrences compared to 2018, said the National Director of the National Police (PN).

Emanuel Estaline Moreno, who was speaking this Wednesday at the 14th PN Command Council opening, said that in 2019 the National Police fulfilled more than 80% of the planned activities, having carried out many activities not foreseen in the plan in compliance with the higher directives, which resulted in reduced crime.

The high representative of the PN highlighted the reduction in occurrences in 19 of the 22 municipalities, the most significant reductions being registered in São Vicente with 10% less, Sal with 14% less, Santa Catarina de Santiago 28% less, Santa Cruz with less 19 %, São Filipe with 24%, Boa Vista with 6% less and Ribeira Grande de Santiago with 43% less.

Regarding the city of Praia, he explained that, despite the peak of instability “felt” in the last quarter of 2019 and the momentary increase in crime in that period in reference, there was a decrease in the number of occurrences in the order of 25% compared to last year.
