Mindelo, Mar 26 (Inforpress) – The president of the Independent and Democratic Cabo Verdean Union (UCID, opposition party) considers that the amount made available to companies to face the consequences of Covid-19 should be 10 percent (%) of the State Budget (OGE).
António Monteiro reacted this way today, at the request of Inforpress, in Mindelo, to the conclusions reached at Council for Social Coordination (CCS) meeting, during which a tripartite agreement was adopted with fiscal, financial and social security measures to mitigate the effects of Covid-19 pandemic.
Despite believing that the measures announced by the Government give “some satisfaction”, the UCID leader considers that the amount made available of four billion escudos to support companies that keep the jobs, should be “at least 10% of the OGE, that is, seven billion escudos ”.
The proposed amount, according to the same source, has to do not only with the number of companies working in the tourism sector, but also with the hundreds of self-employed workers.
