Covid-19: English citizen is the first case of Covid-19 registered in Cabo Verde

Ribeira Grande, Mar 20 (Inforpress) – The first case of Covid-19 in Cabo Verde was registered this Thursday, on the island of Boa Vista.

He is a 62-year-old English national, who arrived on the island of Boa Vista on March 9 and, on the 16th, started to show a respiratory condition with cough and fever.

In a statement released a few moments ago (11:30 PM of March 19), the Minister of Health and Social Security, Arlindo do Rosário, informed that “the patient is clinically stable and receiving all the necessary care to avoid further contagions and promote full recovery”.

“The Government of Cabo Verde wants to guarantee Cabo Verdeans that all management measures in this new moment, in which Cabo Verde has confirmed a positive case, have been activated,” says the statement issued by Arlindo do Rosário’s office.

The Minister of Health says he has the commitment of professionals in the field, national authorities, international partners, religious entities, people, families, companies, civil society and all Cabo Verdeans to overcome “this enormous challenge ”.
