
Praia, 13 July (Inforpress) – The coordinator of the Gulbenkian Mathematics Camps today called for improved in-service training for teachers, the establishment of mathematics laboratories in schools and an increase in lesson lengths to improve the teaching of the subject.
Telma Silva's statement was made to journalists in the context of the sixth edition of the Gulbenkian Mathematics Camps in Cabo Verde (CdM-CV), an initiative promoted by the University of Cabo Verde (Uni-CV), financed by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and supported by the Ministry of Education.
The event takes place from today until Friday, the 17th, in the city of Praia, and brings together selected secondary school students, from the 11th grade of Sotavento, teachers, monitors and tutors.
During these days they will have the opportunity to work on logical reasoning and problem-solving in activities that connect mathematics to everyday situations.
