CNDHC has not had autonomy to address human rights violations – PP

Praia, Sep 30 (Inforpress) – The People’s Party president considered that the National Commission for Human Rights and Citizenship (CNDHC) is a “big farce”, claiming that it has not had autonomy to solve the problems of human rights violation.

Amândio Barbosa Vicente made these statements to the press, this Sunday, at the end of another party weekly meeting, which was also on the table, the tendering procedure to hire firefighters by the City Hall of Praia and the death of another citizen, allegedly due medical malpractice.

For the Popular Party (PP), the celebration of National Human Rights Day, first celebrated in Cabo Verde on September 25, is a “big farce” and human rights, especially in terms of health and housing, continue to be violated.

“There have been reports of 24 deaths from malpractice, hospitals still do not care for people who have no means to pay and the City Hall continue to enforce housing neoliberal policies,” noted Amândio Barbosa Vicente.
