Civil Protection activates emergency plan for the rainy season - president

Praia, August 11 (Inforpress) – The National Civil Protection and Fire Service (SNPCB) has already activated its emergency plan for the rainy season, with preventive measures to reduce potential impacts associated with heavy rainfall in the country.

The information was given to Inforpress by the president of the SNPCB, Domingos Tavares, who assured that all municipalities have already been instructed to update their respective municipal emergency and contingency plans.

“We have already activated our emergency plan for the rainy season with some preventive measures,” he assured, adding that the municipalities have been instructed to identify homes and populations exposed to the risk of floods and inundations, as well as to define measures for a possible need for evacuation.

Among the recommended preventive measures, he pointed to the clearing of waterways, the dredging of dikes and protective walls and sediment retention structures on slopes, as well as the cleaning of urban solid waste deposited in sections and banks of water resources.
