Christopher Kalila highlights engagement of Cabo Verdean parliamentarians in tuberculosis debate in Africa

Praia, Aug 6 (Inforpress) – The chairman of the Caucus Tuberculosis and Sustainable Development Committee expressed satisfaction at the commitment of Cabo Verdean parliamentarians to hold the 3rd African Summit on the disease in the archipelago.

Christopher Kalila made this point while addressing the opening ceremony of the 3rd African Tuberculosis Summit on Monday, within the framework of the work held by the Standing Committee on Health, Labour and Social Affairs and the Committee on Gender, Family, Youth and People with Disabilities  of the Pan-African Parliament in Praia until Wednesday, 7th.

“This item, which we have on the agenda today, demonstrates the involvement of Cabo Verdean parliamentarians to work together to eliminate tuberculosis on the African continent by the 2030 horizon,” he said.

The health committee’s parliamentary group is represented in Africa, according to Christopher Kalila, by 250 MPs advocating for laws and targets aimed at eliminating tuberculosis.
