Praia, Mar 11 (Inforpress) – JPAI met with CNE to discuss the current problems faced by the census in Praia, marked by the high abstention rate in the last elections, especially among the young.
Speaking to the press, this Tuesday, the president of the Youth of the African Party of Independence of Cabo Verde (JPAI), Fidel Cardoso de Pina, certified that the meeting came after the electoral clashes and reported to the National Elections Commission (CNE).
He listed JPAI’s concerns, such as the issue of mandate limitations, age parity and automatic registration.
“If I remember correctly, the abstention rate in the last presidential elections was above 60%, which is extremely negative data,” said Fidel de Pina. He urged young people to register and take an interest in political life, stressing that “voting is a duty, but also the right of all citizens”.
