CCS considers that Government measures are the “minimum” measures taken to support companies and workers

Praia, Mar 25 (Inforpress) – The president of the Sotavento Chamber of Commerce (CCS), Jorge Spencer Lima, said today that the measures announced by the Government to mitigate the effects of Covid-19 are “the minimum” taken to support businesses and workers.

For Jorge Spencer Lima, these measures are to support companies and workers who are currently part of the systems, pointing out that what is intended is to avoid dismissals.

“I take this opportunity to launch an appeal to Cabo Verdean companies not to make redundancies. It is a patriotic act, it is not the moment to fire employees”, he urged, considering that at this moment it is essential that companies, workers and employers be together.

Regarding the impact of Covid-19 on the tourism sector, which employs around 20.000 workers, Jorge Spencer Lima underlined that these measures are aimed at not firing people, remembering that companies will have support if there are no redundancies.
