Carlos Moniz appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics (INMG)

Espargos, 6 August (Inforpress) – The Government has appointed Carlos Alberto Tavares Moniz to chair the board of directors of the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics (INMG), according to Resolution No. 48/2026 published in the Official Gazette.

According to the official document, dated August 5, Anete dos Santos Almeida de Brito and Nemias Moniz dos Reis Tavares Gonçalves were also appointed as board members and will serve under a fixed-term public service appointment.

The resolution was approved by the Council of Ministers on 29 July by the Prime Minister, Francisco Carvalho, and came into force on the day following its publication, with retroactive effect from 3 August 2026.

The new composition of the executive body is based on the INMG Statutes, approved by Regulatory Decree No. 13/2009 of 20 July, in accordance with the legal framework governing public institutions and the Constitution of the Republic.
