
Praia, 29 July (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde’s women’s football team make their debut today in the African Nations Championship (CAN’2026), facing their Ghanaian counterparts in a match counting towards the first round of Group D.
The historic match is scheduled for 6.00 pm local time (4.00 pm in Cabo Verde) at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco, marking the Cape Verdean team’s first-ever appearance in the final stages of Africa’s premier women’s football competition.
The national team takes to the playing field with the aim of doing the country proud and achieving a positive result against a Ghanaian side with greater experience and a longer history in African women’s football.
Drawn in Group D, Cabo Verde will face not only Ghana but also Cameroon and Mali – teams with a proven track record in the sport – in a group stage considered a tough challenge for the Cape Verdean side.
