Cabo Verde is in a process of growth and transformation towards the solidification of its economy, PM

Praia, Jan 14 (Inforpress) – Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva said Cabo Verde is in a process of growth and transformation that will make its economy stronger and more solidified.

Ulisses Correia e Silva made this statement Monday in remarks to the press after the closing of the January 13 commemoration ceremony, and when invited to comment on the President’s statements regarding the country’s excessive dependence on tourism.

January 13, which is already a national holiday, is the date when, for the first time, in 1991, Cabo Verdeans exercised their right to vote in the first multiparty elections, after 16 years in a single party regime.

“We know that we have a tourism weight of around 25% of GDP, but it is better to have that situation and then diversify and increase the penetration of other sectors than having nothing,” he said.
