Praia, Feb 12 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde wants to continue to have the support of Austria to be self-sufficient in terms of water production and distribution for human consumption and agriculture, said today in Praia the Deputy Prime Minister, Olavo Correia.
The minister of finance also made these statements during the signing of the financing agreement with Unieredit Bank Austria AG to reinforce the water desalination capacity by 5.5 million euros, held this afternoon in the Cabo Verdean capital.
This is a project that, according to Olavo Correia, should be implemented within 5 to 8 months. With that, he said, the Palmarejo desalination plant will have, with this investment, a production capacity of 5.000 cubic meters of water per day.
Regarding this financing contract, the minister stressed that it is “a privilege” to be signing this document that aims to finance “a strategic sector” for Cabo Verde as it is the water sector. The financing, he stressed, will be for “20 years” and “interest-free”.
