Praia, Jun 26 (Inforpress) – The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Cabo Verde said that the country has shown important operational capacity in the fight against drug trafficking and clear strategies to reinforce the needs.
In an interview with Inforpress, in the context of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which will be marked on June 26, Cristina Andrade explained that Cabo Verde has had “significant advances” in the matter and the work “should be addressed in this sense”, with a view to “consolidating these results”.
“Cabo Verde has shown an important operational capacity through large seizures of drugs it has done”, she said, adding that the archipelago also shows that the institutions work, there is a legal framework that favors and the country has “invested in prevention”.
According to the report, UNODC has worked with national authorities “in an integrated approach”, touching all dimensions of the drug and drug addiction, including health, justice and security, and this is a way to prevent conditioned responses.
