12/11/25 - 01:05 pm

Tarrafal, Nov 12 (Inforpress) – The municipality of Tarrafal will host, from Thursday the 13th to Sunday the 16th, the first edition of the international seminar “Read Africa – Ibero-America,” a literary event that aims to transform the municipality into a global stage for reading, culture, and intercontinental dialogue.

According to the organizers, the event was created to celebrate books, reading, and cultural diversity, linking Cabo Verde to other African , Ibero-American, and European countries through a space for reflection and exchange on literature, childhood, multilingualism, and public reading policies.

The initiative, promoted by musician, writer, and former Minister of Culture Mário Lúcio Sousa, a native of Tarrafal, enjoys strong support from the Tarrafal City Council, which embraced the challenge of hosting the event, providing institutional, logistical, and financial backing to ensure its success.

During the seminar, the House of Books and Reading will be inaugurated in the former Central School building, along with the 1st Interatlantic Children’s Book Fair, curated by the Emília Institute (Brazil).
