
Praia, Dec 03 (Inforpress) –Today, Cabo Verde marks National Morna Day, an observance created in honor of the birth of composer and poet B. Léza, a leading figure of this musical genre that embodies the identity and sentiment of the Cabo Verdean people.
Inscribed by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on December 11, 2019, morna is recognized as one of the archipelago’s deepest cultural expressions, conveying poetry, longing, and identity to the world.
To mark the date, the Cabo Verdean Society of Music (SCM) is hosting a public celebration dedicated to valuing morna and its creators.
The event takes place in the SCM courtyard in Praia, from 5:30 p.m., featuring performances by several artists.
