Cabo Verde attends the 8th conference on climate change and development in Africa at Ethiopia 

Praia, Aug 22 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde will attend the eighth Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa (CCDA-VIII) to be held from 28 to 30 this month in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Inforpress learned.

The event, under the theme “Intensifying climate action for resilient economies in Africa”, is an initiative of the African Commission for Climate Policy’s African Center for Climate Policy (CACP / CEA) and aims to provide the continent with a united position at the ‘Action for Climate’ meeting convened by the UN Secretary-General.

According to the center’s coordinator, James Murombedzi, the conference will allow to discuss the impacts of climate change on the continent, starting with examples such as cyclone Idai, which killed thousands of people in southern Africa and destroyed several infrastructure estimated at over one billion of US dollars.

“These are real consequences that have an impact on the lives of people on the continent and will be discussed during the meeting, among other issues,” said Murombedzi, adding that the conference will also contribute to the Africa voice being heard during the September summit in New York (United States).
