Breaking the cycle of poverty requires young people to be in the lead – Pedro Lopes

Praia, Sep 26 (Inforpress) – The Secretary of State for Innovation and Vocational Training, Pedro Lopes, said Wednesday that breaking the cycle of poverty requires young people to be in the lead, focusing on empowerment as an instrument of change.

“For us it is very important to value training as a tool for changing skills in the hotel, restaurant and tourism areas,” he said.

Pedro Lopes made these remarks at the opening of the Tourism Week, which take place within the framework of the World Tourism Day celebration, which will be celebrated on September 27, under the theme “Tourism and employment: a better future for all”. He defended “tripartite effort” between government, institutions and young people, through which “willingness to do so can translate into big gains”.

“Our goal is to have, by the end of this legislature, one million tourists visiting Cabo Verde. We are not far away and we need to think about what kind of services we are going to provide to these tourists,” he said, stressing that it is necessary to diversify experiences and offerings.
