Brava: Law prohibiting fishermen from staying on Rombos islets will be revised – minister

Nova Sintra, Aug 5 (Inforpress) – The law that prohibits fishermen and tourists or visitors from staying on the Rombos islets, as it is an integral reserved area, will be revised to seek a “best solution” for everyone.

The guarantee was given to the press on Saturday by the Minister of Tourism and Transport and Minister of Maritime Economy, José Gonçalves, visiting Brava Island, accompanied by the head of European Union (EU) cooperation in Cabo Verde, José Roman Leon Lora.

Asked about the challenge of this law, José Gonçalves pointed out that he had a meeting with the fishermen about a month ago, where they expressed their concerns and showed them the possibility of a review.

“At the meeting, he said that all legislation is likely to be revised,” said the minister, adding that the law will be revised, to see to what extent one can also live within various activities, but always protecting nature and the patrimony.
