Nova Sintra, Sept. 10 (Inforpress) – The fishing community of Furna, on the island of Brava, expressed satisfaction today with the start of operations at the ice production facility—recently equipped with modern machinery—which is already ensuring a sufficient supply for the island.
Speaking to Inforpress, Jaime Tavares, a resident of Furna and a professional involved in various maritime activities, said that the operation of the new facility represents a “great benefit” for the island’s entire fishing community.
“We can now say that even the neighbouring island of Fogo is benefiting from the ice produced at our plant. We are very pleased with this new project, because we used to have a plant with less capacity that eventually broke down, but this new one has greater capacity and is serving everyone well,” he said.
According to him, the facility's production capacity could also allow for the supply of ice to fishing vessels from other islands, given that daily production is considered sufficient to meet local needs.
