Boa Vista: Health Delegate regrets lack of specialists in the island

Sal-Rei, Apr 8 (Inforpress) – The Health delegate of Boa Vista lamented Sunday the shortage of medical specialists, which, however, will be “resolved through a new program” by the Ministry of Health that will move regular specialists to island.

Krisia Delgado was speaking to Inforpress as part of a health activity held this Sunday by the health office to celebrate World Health Day, which included health screenings, including blood pressure, blood glucose and HIV.

“In Boa Vista we have a shortage of specialists, but we are already preparing to receive specialists to come and give consultations”, said the official, who assured, however, that the issue will be solved through a new program by the Ministry of Health that will move specialists regularly to the island, including “some already retired”.

But for the delegate, the shortage also goes through the number of staff in the health office, since, as informed, the nurses working on the island only cover the emergency room, which makes the island “lacked primary care”, due to other work in the communities.
