Beach volleyball: Ludmila and Janice Varela go to Lusophone tournament

Praia, Jun 11 (Inforpress) - The Cape Verdean women's beach volleyball team is going to Portugal to take part in the Lusophony Tournament, which runs from 20 to 22 June, to prepare for the World Cup qualifiers in Morocco.

The two athletes, Ludmila and Janice Varela, who are coached by Brazilian coach Márcio Araújo, are intensifying their preparations for the continental tournament in Cidade da Praia, as part of the World Cup qualifiers, which will take place in the Kingdom of Morocco from the 27th to the 29th of this month.

The volleyball sisters believe that the Lusophone Games could be decisive for the Continental Cup, arguing that this strategy is part of qualifying for the World Cup.

The women's team, according to the Cape Verdean Volleyball Federation, had already qualified for the World Cup in the continental competition they held last year, but the new rules of the International Federation oblige the volleyballers to qualify again.
