Beach volleyball: Cape Verdean pairs already competing in the Continental Tournament in Morocco, qualifying for the World Cup

Praia, Jun 26 (Inforpress) – The Cape Verdean women's beach volleyball duo, made up of sisters Ludmila and Janice Varela, debuted on Wednesday, 25, in Morocco, in the African continental qualifying phase for the World Cup, with a victory (2-0), over the duo from Togo.

The Varela sisters beat the Togolese by scores of 21-16 and 21-14.

In the second game, held in the afternoon of the same day, the Cape Verdean women's team lost to the hosts (Morocco) by 2-1, with scores of 12-21, 21-18 and 15-10.

The captain of the Creole team, Janice Varela, said that they played two great games, praised the clear victory over Togo, but considered that the fact that Cabo Verde played two games on the same day contributed to the defeat against the Moroccans, claiming that the home team “was fresher”, since they had not played any games before.
