Praia, 26 June (Inforpress) - The men’s national basketball team is in Cairo, Egypt, where it is undertaking an eight-day training camp in preparation for the third and final window of the African qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup.
The preparations are taking place ahead of the team’s trip to Douala, Cameroon, where, between 2 and 5 July, Cabo Verde will play three crucial matches against the national teams of Libya, South Sudan and Cameroon – the tournament’s hosts – in the battle to qualify for the World Cup finals, which will be held in Qata
According to a statement from the Cape Verdean Basketball Federation, the training camp in Egypt was made possible thanks to the good institutional relations between the federations of the two countries, enabling the national team to play high-level competitive matches ahead of their official fixtures.
During their stay in Cairo, the Tubarões Azuis have scheduled a friendly match against Libya and two closed-door matches against the Egyptian national team, set for today, the 26th, and Sunday, 28 June.
