Baía das Gatas Festival: São Vicente Municipality considers changing the annual event date due to climate change

Mindelo, Aug. 10 (Inforpress) – The City Council of São Vicente will work with civil society to determine the best date to celebrate the Baía das Gatas Festival, in light of climate change, announced Councilman José Carlos da Luz.

In his assessment of the 42nd edition of the festival, held from August 6 to 9, the mayor described the outcome as “extremely positive,” highlighting the public’s enthusiasm and the diversity of the lineup, but admitted that weather conditions are one of the main challenges for future editions.

“With climate change, we have to think about things differently. It’s a phenomenon that’s more evident in our time, and we have to adapt to current weather conditions,” said José Carlos da Luz.

According to the councilman, the City Council of São Vicente intends to consult with residents, civil society, journalists, and other stakeholders to determine the best date in August for holding the event.
