Praia, Dec 2 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verdean international athlete from Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Samuel Freire, was third in the 45th edition of São Silvestre de Amadora, held on Tuesday night, 31, in this city in the distance of 10 kilometers.
Samuel Freire completed the podium with a time of 30:09 (thirty minutes and nine seconds), this race won by the Portuguese athlete Rui Pinto (Benfica) with 29:45, followed by the Brazilian Paulo Paula (Run Tejo) reaching the goal by 30:03, that is, hit the Creole athlete in three seconds.
“Thus, I finish the year 2019 with a 3rd place of São Silvestre da Amadora, one of the most mystical events in Portugal, with very competitive opponents, in a very hard course. I will continue to work to open new horizons by 2020 with dedication, hard work and humility. Thanks to all who support me and happy new year,” said Freire, in his first reaction.
Already in the female elite, Sporting Clube de Portugal athlete Ana Mafalda Ferreira repeated last year’s victory, with a time of 34:39 minutes, surpassing Emilia Pisoeiro (Recreio Desportivo de Águeda) and Solange Jesus (Sporting), second and third classified respectively.
