Praia, Jan 14 (Inforpress) – Cape Verdean artists and curators have until January 19 to apply for the fifth edition of the UPCYCLES Artistic Residency, which offers full grants for projects based on historical archives, the organisation announced today.
The initiative, promoted by the Association of Friends of the Cinema Museum in Mozambique (AAMCM), aims to select five participants from Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP). Two places are reserved exclusively for talents residing outside Mozambique, allowing the participation of Cape Verdean creators.
According to a statement sent to Inforpress, the residency includes a two-month remote mentoring phase starting on February 1, followed by an intensive 10-day on-site programme in Maputo, between March 30 and April 10, 2026.
Selected artists from Cabo Verde will benefit from an international grant including 700 euros for creation and subsistence, support for exhibition materials (150 euros), and funds for archive rights. The organisation will also cover airfare and accommodation in the Mozambican capital.
