Appointment of referees for international tournament puts Cape Verde in the spotlight in handball - FCA

Praia, 26 May (Inforpress) – The president of the Cape Verdean Handball Federation (FCA) said today that the appointment of referees Rodrigo Ribeiro and Ilamilton Martins to the Interamnia World Cup in Italy confirms the growth and international recognition of Cape Verdean handball.

Speaking to Inforpress, Ângela Almeida said that the award represents “an important recognition” of the quality of national refereeing and demonstrates Cabo Verde’s potential on the international sporting stage.

According to Almeida, the participation of the two Cape Verdean referees in one of the biggest international handball tournaments is the result of ongoing investment in the training and development of national refereeing.

The official explained that, since March, the federation has been running a number of training and refresher courses for referees and coaches on various islands across the country, including São Vicente, Santo Antão and, shortly, Maio.
