São Filipe, May 25 (Inforpress) – Tourist guide and mountaineer Mustafa Eren believes that Cabo Verde possesses “enormous potential” for climbing and sport mountaineering, an activity that could become a tourist attraction without causing environmental impacts.

With experience in more than one hundred countries, Mustafa Eren explained that rock quality is one of the most important elements for any mountaineer.

He revealed that the recent attempt to climb Torre Xôxô, also known as Lombo de Pique, in Santo Antão, was interrupted precisely for safety reasons.

According to the mountaineer, on May 09 he managed to climb just over 80 of the 150 metres of the massive rocky pillar, but decided to abandon the ascent after concluding that the structure presented rock quality considered dangerous.
