Praia to Host International Atlantic Creolity Meeting from May 28 to 30
22/05/26 - 12:28 pm

Praia, May 22 (Inforpress) – The city of Praia will host, from May 28 to 30, the International Atlantic Creolity Meeting, aimed at promoting academic, cultural and artistic reflection on the concept of creolity, bringing together participants from various continents.

The initiative, to be held at the University of Cabo Verde, “comes from the heart and mind” of the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, according to the chairwoman of the Scientific Committee, Professor Augusta Teixeira, speaking to the press during the presentation of the event.

According to the official, the event will be structured around three major groups of participants: institutional representatives from different countries, academics dedicated to the study of creolity, and artists, who will take part in both debates and cultural performances.

“The objective is to build bridges and create a better future,” Augusta Teixeira stated, stressing that creolity reflects the synthesis of historical, cultural and social contributions that characterize Atlantic societies.

The professor also highlighted Cabo Verde’s central role in this reflection, considering that Creole identity is part of its historical and cultural genesis and also an example of openness, dialogue and coexistence among peoples.
