Inflation/April: Consumer Prices Maintain 0.1% Increase for the Second Consecutive Month

Praia, May 15, 2026 (Inforpress) – The Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded a monthly variation of 0.1% in April, marking the second consecutive month of increase at the same rate, while core inflation slowed to 1.4%, the National Statistics Institute (INE) announced today.

According to an INE statement, the accumulated CPI variation stood at -1.8%, representing a decrease of 2.9 percentage points compared to the figure recorded in the same period of 2025.

The institute also indicated that the average variation over the last 12 months was 1.8%, down by 0.2 percentage points compared to the previous month.

According to the same source, the core inflation indicator, which excludes energy and unprocessed food products, recorded a year-on-year variation of 1.4%, 0.6 percentage points lower than in March 2026.
