Praia, May 15 (Inforpress) – The National Police (PN) assured today that a nationwide security operation has already been deployed to ensure that the May 17 legislative elections take place “normally”.

Speaking to the press, the deputy national director of the PN for the Organic Unit of Security and Public Order stated that a national directive had been prepared to guide regional command plans, including specific measures for the electoral period.

According to Roberto Lima, the objective is to ensure the protection of candidates, campaign activities on the ground and infrastructure considered critical, while also reinforcing police presence in areas identified as more sensitive from a security standpoint.

The official further stated that, on election day, guidelines established by the National Elections Commission (CNE) will be enforced, including restrictions on vehicle circulation near polling stations and the removal of individuals carrying electoral register lists.
