SIACSA considers challenging PCFR and maintains prison officers’ strike due to lack of agreement in negotiations

Praia, May 14 (Inforpress) – The president of SIACSA today admitted the possibility of challenging the Career, Functions and Remuneration Plan (PCFR) for prison officers, alleging the document’s unconstitutionality and lack of agreement with the Government during negotiations preceding the nationwide strike.

Speaking to the press in Praia on the first of the two strike days by prison officers, Gilberto Lima justified the work stoppage with the “lack of concrete solutions” from the Ministry of Justice.

According to him, the “95% nationwide participation of prison officers” results from the lack of security in prisons and delayed promotions.

The officers are also demanding inclusion in Functional Classification Group 5 (GEF5) and contest the inclusion of the profession in a general PCFR, arguing that, as a “special body”, they should have a specific statute similar to that of the National Police or the Armed Forces.
