Diaspora: Community leader highlights social support for Cabo Verdeans in São Tomé and Príncipe

São Tomé, May 13 (Inforpress) – The president of the Djunta Mó Association, Domingos Pereira, known as Djingo, highlighted the social support work carried out within the Cabo Verdean community in São Tomé and Príncipe, focusing on integration, social assistance and the dignity of families.

The son of Cabo Verdean parents who emigrated in the 1940s, Djingo was born on Príncipe Island, where he serves as an inspector at the Ministry of Education after several years working as a teacher in primary and secondary education.

In an interview with Inforpress, the community leader stressed that his intervention has been directed toward providing direct support to the most vulnerable families through community solidarity mechanisms.

His parents “never forgot their origins” and passed on “their habits, customs and culture”, he said, highlighting the continuity of Cabo Verdean identity across generations.
